Direct News Source

19-Apr-2010 Due to European airspace restrictions caused by volcanic ash from Iceland’s volcano, Grupo SATA has cancelled 17 flights since Thursday, 15 April.

Seven flights to and from the Azores have been cancelled, namely Ponta Delgada/Copenhagen/Ponta Delgada, Ponta Delgada/Manchester/London/Ponta Delgada and Ponta Delgada/Frankfurt/Ponta Delgada.

Ten flights to and from Madeira have been cancelled, namely Funchal/Arlanda/Funchal, Funchal/Charles de Gaulle/Funchal, Funchal/Dublin/Funchal, Funchal/Zurich/Funchal and Funchal/Copenhagen/Funchal.

Grupo SATA continues to provide passenger assistance by ensuring food and accommodation for those affected, and for whom alternative solutions have not been found, in accordance with internal regulations and applicable legislation.

Furthermore, Grupo SATA has attempted to find the best solutions for its passengers, to the extent possible, such as alternative means of transport to countries in the restricted airspace.

Finally, Grupo SATA wishes to reiterate that it is in no way responsible for these irregularities, and has done everything within its power, with serious and extraordinary unforeseen financial implications in resolving its customers' situations.
