Direct News Source

27-May-2010 With nearly 60 cabin crew suspended and eight sacked by BA, Unite's ‘Brutish Airways’ bus is to bring the fight for justice for the victimised workers to central London.

  • When: Friday, May 28th, 12.30pm and 1.15pm
  • Where: Speakers' Corner, near Marble Arch, Hyde Park, W1

A bus-load of striking crew will gather at Speakers' Corner - worldwide symbol of freedom of speech - to highlight the culture of fear reigning at the airline.

Wearing red gags, crew will symbolise the company's crackdown on workers defending their job, including the over 3,000 who saw their travel concessions removed for striking in March and the nearly 70 loyal crew dismissed or suspended, some for trivial reasons.

The strike costs BA at least £7 million per day, meaning that £84 million will have been lost in revenue by day twelve tomorrow (Friday). A further five day strike is set to begin on Sunday May 30th until Thursday June 3rd, with another five day strike following from Saturday, June 5th until Wednesday June 9th.
