The ceremony will include a performance by Ms Satu Vänskä of the Australian Chamber Orchestra playing a 1759 J.B.Guadagnini violin in the new Forum area of the terminal.

What: Ceremony to mark the completion of the expansion and upgrade of the International Terminal's Departures Level.

The International Terminal is a key infrastructure asset for Sydney as it handles about 45% of all of Australia's international passengers. The expansion and upgrade of the terminal commenced in 2007 and has involved:

expanding the departures level by 7,300 square metres opening a new outbound Customs hall building a new security screening area for essential aviation security measures providing more waiting areas and food, beverage and retail outlets for passengers commissioning a new arrivals baggage reclaim carousel for increased A380 capacity refurbishing 30,000 square metres of the existing departures level

Where: Meet at the Media Centre, Ground Floor (northern end), International Terminal

When: Friday 11 June 2010. Assemble at 10.15 am for issuing passes and going through security to the Forum.

Security Access: For security purposes, RSVP IS ESSENTIAL so that passes can be issued.

Please RSVP by cob Thursday 10 June. Please provide full name and identification details (driver licence: number, expiry date and state of issue; or passport: number, expiry date and country of issue) for the issue of a security pass to enter the airside area. The same identification needs to be carried and presented on request. Aviation security requirements apply. Please do not bring prohibited items (pocket knives, screwdrivers etc) or liquids, aerosols or gels.
