14-Jun-2010 I.D now needed for domestic and inter island check-ins.

Air Seychelles' domestic and inter-island service has reported that the general public have adapted well to the new check in requirements, in force since mid May.

Passengers now boarding inter-island and domestic flights have to show proof of identification when they check- in at the domestic terminals locally.

This requirement forms part of the necessary steps the airline has to comply with to be in line with the standards its needs for its upcoming IOSA (IATA's Operational Safety Audit) certification.

The certification is done bi annually and for the past two IOSA certifications, the airline restricted itself only to its international sector. However with the next IOSA coming up, it has extended this to both sectors so as to increase its passenger safety, security and service levels.

The airline's management has explained that the identification requirement is important, since if, ever an unfortunate incident like a crash happened on those routes, this would make it easier to identify those who were on board.

Identification must be in the form of passports, National Identity Cards or a valid Driving License. To date the airline has not recorded any problems since it started to implement the requirement.
