Spirit flight attendants support pilots' fight for fair contract

13-Jun-2010 Spirit Airlines flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA), today announced their support for the carrier’s pilots' fight for a fair contract.

In a Statement of Support, the Spirit AFA-CWA Master Executive Council (MEC) overwhelmingly pledged their support to the pilots for a successful conclusion to current negotiations.

"Spirit flight attendants are committed to assisting our pilots in achieving the best contract possible," stated the Spirit AFA-CWA MEC.

"AFA-CWA is a proactive labor organization rooted in the fight for fair and equitable wages, benefits, and working conditions and we will continue to support our colleagues in their efforts to achieve their goals."

Pilots at Spirit Airlines, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), officially went on strike at 5:01 a.m. on Saturday, June 12. Spirit flight attendants have been in negotiations since 2007 and are currently in mediation.
