22-Jun-2010 SkyTeam today marks its tenth anniversary. Between 2000, the year it was founded by Air France, Delta Air Lines, KLM and Korean Air, and 2010, SkyTeam has grown from 4 to 13 member airlines with the arrival last Friday of the Romanian carrier, TAROM.

The continuing increase in the number of airlines characterises the alliance's willingness to create a worldwide coverage by linking complementary networks together flying from the best hubs in Europe, the United States, Asia and Africa.

Today SkyTeam offers over 13,000 daily flights to 898 destinations in 169 countries, compared with 6,402 daily flights to 451 destinations in 98 countries when it was founded.

The recent arrival of Vietnam Airlines and today's signature with China Eastern of an agreement officially launching the membership procedure for the Chinese airline into the alliance, reinforces SkyTeam's presence in Asia, one of the most buoyant regions in the world. These two airlines will enable SkyTeam to increase its capacity by 10% compared with today.

SkyTeam is also focusing its attention on other regions of the world such as Latin America, South East Asian and India.

The alliance will pursue its growth strategy by recruiting other airlines that will allow it to extend its worldwide network and offer its customers access to new regions.
