14-Jul-2010 Sheremetyevo International Airport has reviewed its results from June and 6 months of 2010.

In the 1st half of 2010, the airport received 8 million 499 thousand air travelers, which is 32.3% more compared to the same period of 2009.

The passenger traffic of international air lines (IAL) in 6 months grew 25.2% reaching

5,411,000 people. Domestic air lines (DAL) carried 3,088,000 air travelers, which is 46.8% more compared to the pervious year.

In June Sheremetyevo Airport received 1,927,000 people, which is 38% more than in the same period of 2009. The passenger traffic of IAL grew 28.5% up to 1,216,000 passengers, of DAL, 57.9%. In total, federal routes in June carried 710.6 thousand people.

In June, Sheremetyevo recorded a significant growth in the number of passengers on flights of the parent air company Aeroflot-RA and its daughter carriers, Donavia and Nordavia. Transaero air company significantly increased the number of charter flights to the basic tourist destinations, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Israel, etc.

Sheremetyevo Airport continues to develop the low cost carriage segment. Thus, the low budget air company Avianova, which started flights from Terminal B in March this year, has already carried about 400 thousand passengers via Sheremetyevo.

In June, Sheremetyevo received a new carrier, as Hong Kong Airlines started flights between Moscow and Hong Kong. This means that Sheremetyevo is now the only airport of the Moscow air hub where all major Chinese companies flying to Moscow are based (46 flights per week). Thus, besides Hong Kong Airlines, Air China, China Eastern, China Southern and Hainan Airlines fly to Sheremetyevo.

Considering the growing passenger traffic of the airport's key partners, the arrival of new carriers and the beginning of a full-scale operation of the South Airport Complex (Terminals D, E and F) with a capacity of 25 million people per year, Sheremetyevo expects a further growth of the number of passengers, among other things, due to the growing number of international transit flights.
