More than 1.8 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in Jun-2010

Passenger throughput at Dublin Airport exceeded 1.8 million in June, down 6% on the same period last year, according to the Dublin Airport Authority.

Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe fell by 3% with more than 1m passengers travelling to European destinations during the month. UK traffic recorded a 9% decrease with almost 600,000 passengers travelling in June.

Passenger numbers on domestic routes declined by 42% with just under 33,000 passengers taking domestic flights last month.

Transatlantic traffic to North America fell by 5% with 160,000 passengers travelling on this route sector in June. Other international passenger traffic, which covers flights to the Middle East, grew by 9% as just over 21,000 passengers travelled this route sector in June.

Almost 8.5 million passengers have travelled through Dublin Airport in the first six months of the year, a 16% decline over the same period last year.

Stripping out the impact of ash cloud disruption, a strike by Irish air traffic controllers and extreme winter weather, the underlying decline in passenger numbers for the first six months was 10%.

The rate of decline slowed significantly in June and as we move into the core holiday season of July and August there is expected to a further improvement in this trend.
