15-Sep-2010 On Tuesday 14 September 2010, China Airlines announced its intention to join SkyTeam, of which Air France is one of the four founding airlines. This membership will strengthen the alliance's presence in Greater China, a region still experiencing strong economic development.

In this part of Asia, Air France and KLM serve 7 destinations from Paris and/or Amsterdam with 84 flights, and even 109 weekly flights including those operated by China Eastern and China Southern on a code-share basis. Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong are served by both airlines, Guangzhou by Air France only and Chengdu, Taipei, Hangzhou by KLM.

Air France and KLM thus connect one of the world's most dynamic economic regions to the rest of the world via their respective hubs at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol, which together offer over 33,000 connecting opportunities. Fare combinability provides customers with access to destinations served by both airlines, allowing them to combine one trip on Air France via Paris-CDG and one trip on KLM via Amsterdam-Schiphol. In this way, customers benefit from a better offer in terms of frequencies on both the outbound and inbound flights, via either hub.

On routes between France and China, Air France operates Boeing 777-300 or 200s equipped with four classes (La Première, Affaires, Premium Voyageur, Voyageur) and three classes (Affaires, Premium Voyageur, Voyageur) respectively, except on flights to Guangzhou which is served by A340 (Affaires, Premium Voyageur, Voyageur).
