15-Oct-2010 The Dutch low cost low fare carrier transavia.com has now completed the consultation procedures with their Danish works council regarding the closure of the Danish business.

The result is that most of transavia.coms flights out of Denmark will be cancelled as of November 1st. This allows transavia.com reimbursement of tickets. At the same time the company has finalized an agreement with airline Norwegian allowing passengers to be rebooked on Norwegians flights.

The past weeks the airline transavia.com has been negotiating about a closure of the Danish business with the Danish works council. On October 13, 2010 the parties reached an agreement, which will now allow transavia.com to officially cancel most of the flights out of Denmark as of November 1st. The cancellation will also allow the airline to begin the reimbursement of tickets or rebooking of passengers on available alternative flights.

- We are glad that we have an agreement and that we are able to cancel the flights and thereby give more precise information to our passengers and business relations. Passengers will now be able to get their tickets reimbursed and at the same time we have reached an agreement with Norwegian allowing passengers to be rebooked on their flights. We would have preferred to provide our passengers with this information sooner, but unfortunately this has not been possible because of the fact that the decision was not final yet, says Michiel Meijer, CEO at Transavia Denmark.

With the completion of the consultation procedures in Denmark, the Danish employees now have a social plan for the closure of the business, which is a pre-condition for the execution of the closing. The conclusion is that possibly some flights will remain operative in Denmark until the 1st of April, but most flights will be cancelled.

-We are aware that this closure is disappointing news for many of our employees, passengers en relations and it is for us too. It is sad that we have to say goodbye to many of our skilled employees in Denmark. It has been a pleasure working with them for the last two years, and we would have liked to have continued that cooperation in the years to come. Unfortunately transavia.com has not been able to meet the business goals set for Denmark, and therefore the only rational decision is to withdraw from the market and cease the operation , says Michiel Meijer.

Although most transavia.com-flights will be cancelled as of November 1st, some flights will continue until the 1st of April. A list of cancelled flights can be found on the transavia.com website. All passengers will receive detailed information by email during the coming days regarding their flight and how they can request a refund or a possible rebooking. It will not be necessary to contact transavia.com directly.
