16-Dec-2010 EasyJet, the UK’s largest airline, has announced a brand new daily route between Aberdeen and London Gatwick starting in June 2011.

Flights go on sale today (16th December) for as little as £27.99 (including taxes).

Hugh Aitken, easyJet's commercial manager for Scotland, said: "We are excited to announce this new route which will allow us to carry an extra 100,000 passengers a year between Aberdeen and London.

"easyJet has come a long way since it launched its first flight 15 years ago - we are proud to be Scotland's favourite airline, and today's announcement is testament to our continued commitment to adding new and exciting routes to our Scottish portfolio."

Derek Provan, managing director of Aberdeen Airport, added: "This is yet more great news for the Aberdeen and North East market coming hot on the heels of our recent runway announcement.

"Not only does it provide further choice on an already high demand route, but it also expands connectivity allowing passengers better access into easyJet's biggest hub and a huge choice of onward European destinations. It will also be great news for passengers seeking competitive fares."

The Aberdeen-Gatwick announcement forms part of a package of new easyJet route launches announced today. The airline is also set to operate flights from London Gatwick to Amman in Jordan, Izmir in Turkey, Verona and Bologna in Italy, and Seville in Spain.
