25% discount to mark Dubai Duty Free’s 27th anniversary
19-Dec-2010 Dubai Duty Free’s 27th Anniversary on the 20th December, is sure to signal another sales milestone for the airport retailer when it extends a 25% discount to travellers on that day throughout the 24-hour period.
The Anniversary day offers travellers the chance to avail of this one-off offer of 25% discount across a wide range of merchandise. The 25% discount offer will begin at midnight on the 19th December and will end at midnight on the 20th December.
Commenting on the anniversary day plans, Colm McLoughlin, Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free said: "The anniversary discount offer, which began with Dubai Duty Free's 20th Anniversary in 2003, proved to be so popular that we have decided to continue this offer once again this year. We see this as our way of saying thank you to our customers who have helped Dubai Duty Free to achieve such fantastic sales results over the years."
Traditionally a busy sales day for Dubai Duty Free, the 20th December offer will undoubtedly result in keeping the cash registers ringing throughout the operation.
"In 2009, when we offered 25% discount to mark our 26th anniversary on the 20th December, our sales soared to Dhs62.5 million (US$17.3 million) so we are looking forward to seeing if that figure can be topped this year, " added Mr. McLoughlin.
As part of the 27th Anniversary celebrations, Dubai Duty Free will ensure a party-like atmosphere throughout the retail operation on that day. Plans are in place to conduct a Millennium Millionaire, a Finest Surprise Luxury Car draw and a series of other promotional activities that will involve travelers and staff.
When Dubai Duty Free opened for business on 20th December 1983, the operation had 100 employees, 52 of whom are still in active service and are referred to as the 'pioneers'. The operation currently employs over 3,900 staff comprising of 44 different nationalities.
