Gatwick Airport - advice to passengers. 20-Dec-2010 - 17.30

Direct News Source

20-Dec-2010 Current weather forecasts show that up to 10cm of snow could fall across London and the South East tonight over a very short period of time.

Gatwick is ready to respond with immediate effect: a 150-strong airfield team and 49 snow clearing vehicles, including the two additional snow ploughs brought in from Zurich last Saturday morning, are on stand-by if the snow falls.

Given the severe weather warning, passengers planning to travel through Gatwick today, and for the rest of this week, should check the flight status on their airline's website first and only make their way to the airport if their flight has been confirmed.

Flight information is also available on our website at www.gatwickairport.com and we'll provide regular updates on Twitter @Gatwick_Airport.

The road and rail networks remain impacted by the weather conditions so passengers should also check with transport operators before planning their journey to the airport.

Staff are on hand to provide information, advice and support to passengers who are at the airport.
