21-Dec-2010 Flights have been taking off and landing at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) since 08:30 CET today, following the runway closure due to the sudden and heavy snowfall in the early morning hours.

"All three runways at Frankfurt Airport are now clear of snow and ice," stated a Fraport spokesperson. "The goal is to return to regular controlled flight operations at FRA as quickly as possible," following the winter weather that has gripped the interconnected European aviation system again in the past few days.

Fraport AG, the owner and manager of Frankfurt Airport, is doing its utmost to make the situation for its passengers as comfortable as possible. "Our expanded service teams are distributing free snacks and drinks to the guests. Clowns and other entertainers are circulating throughout the terminals to keep the youngsters, in particular, happy and to make the time on the ground pass by faster," explained the Fraport spokesman.

To get the latest flight information, passengers are kindly requested to contact their airline and travel agent, or to surf the Internet (airline and other websites). Travelers can also access the videotext information pages that are broadcast regularly by various German TV stations.
