Stranded Malaysia Airlines passengers in Frankfurt arrived in London

21-Dec-2010 With the reopening of London Heathrow with a single runway operation, Malaysian Airlines is now able to gradually resume our flights to London.

Our stranded passengers in Frankfurt have arrived in London today at 9.13am (Malaysian Time).

Another flight, MH 002D, that was forced to divert to Istanbul will now depart for London at 12.00pm (6.00pm Malaysian Time) and is expected to arrive in Stansted Airport at 2.00pm (London Time). The return flight MH 003A is scheduled to depart London tomorrow at 2.00pm for arrival in Kuala Lumpur on 23 December at 2.35am.

London Heathrow airport is still operating with a reduced flight schedule today and Malaysia Airlines passengers are advised to check the status of their flights before proceeding to the airport. The backlog of Malaysia Airlines flights heading to London is expected to take up to 2 days to clear.

Malaysia Airlines Director of Operations, Captain Azharuddin Osman said, "We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers as a result of the London Heathrow closure. We are working very closely with the airport and all relevant civil aviation authorities for more landing rights and are doing all we can to alleviate the situation. Once we receive the required clearances, the new flight schedules will be updated on the website," he said.

Passengers on the affected flights have the following options:

Change flight bookings between now until 2 January 2011 at no charge for travel until end March 2011, subject to seat availability on the fare type booked

Obtain a full refund for all fare types, at a fee
