Direct News Source

27-Dec-2010 The weather situation at Frankfurt Airport is improving. Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo have returned to mostly normal flight operations.

With immediate effect bookings transported short- and medium-haul Lufthansa passenger flights will be accepted again.

The immense shipment backlog at Frankfurt might still cause interferences. Due to this Lufthansa Cargo is obliged to prolong the following restrictions:

* Customers are urgently asked to pick up import-shipments at Frankfurt Airport on 27 December 2010

* The immense shipment backlog in Frankfurt is making it very difficult e.g. to prioritise the extraction of single shipments and additionally to extract cargo from built-up units.

To overcome the shipment backlog in Frankfurt, Lufthansa Cargo is planning extra sections in the upcoming days.

Furthermore following restrictions are still obliged for the local cargo delivery:

* Since warehousing space in Frankfurt is completely full, only export shipments scheduled for departure within 24 hours will be accepted until 29 December 2010. BUPs must not be delivered until a maximum of 12 hours prior to departure. Only shipments with a confirmed booking will be accepted.

* Due to current weather situation in Moscow and the US East Coast, shipments might be effected by rebookings as flight delays and isolated cancellations might occur.

The status of shipments is available any time in the TrackIT-System.

Lufthansa Cargo deeply regrets any inconvenience caused by delays. Staff at all stations, worldwide, are doing their very utmost to keep inconvenience to customers to the minimum possible.
