20-Jan-2011 Cuba Travel Services (CTS) commends the Obama Administration for its decision to expand the rights of Americans to travel freely.

The President has directed that changes be made to regulations and policies governing: (1) purposeful travel; (2) non-family remittances; and (3) U.S. airports supporting licensed charter flights to and from Cuba.

"Although most in the aviation and travel industries were hoping for a complete lifting of the travel ban in 2010, we firmly support the Presidents' decision to make an Executive Order that will allow more Americans to travel freely to Cuba," said Michael Zuccato, General Manager of Cuba Travel Services. "This decision will create thousands of jobs in our industry and we look forward to the day when all Americans can travel freely to Cuba."

Since 2000, CTS has provided air charter and travel services for qualified students, religious & cultural travelers, agriculture producers, telecommunication professionals, sports teams, dance and music groups, research professionals, government officials, and numerous other travelers authorized by the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

"We hope this decision will promote better relations between the two nations that share many common political, social, economical and environmental interests," Zuccato said.

CTS will review the new regulations and determine the possibility of offering direct flights from other airports within the United States once authorized by both countries. Airports to be reviewed are Tampa, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, Houston, Dallas, Boston and Chicago. Cuba Travel Services, Inc. is an Allied Member of ASTA and an honored member of the NTA (National Tour Association).

CTS was formed by a group of Los Angeles business professionals to specifically facilitate a better understanding between the U.S. and Cuba in providing convenient and cost-effective travel to those people who qualify under the current U.S. Treasury regulations under OFAC. As an Indirect Air Carriers, CTS currently offers 10 flights per week between Miami and Cuba and continues to charter non-stop flights from Los Angeles to Havana on a seasonal basis.
