Virgin loses the Blue

28-Feb-2011 Virgin has announced it will lose the ‘Blue’ from its name, hoping to attract more business travellers this way. According to The Australian, as reported by eTravelBlackboard, Hans Hulsbosch, creative director, Virgin Blue, was quoted as having said that while Virgin would remain a part of the carrier, Blue was no longer necessary for the brand.

Chief executive John Borghetti was further quoted as having said the airline's research found that Virgin's name was too fragmented and therefore, the carrier chose to drop the Blue so that it didn't confuse the market.
