28-Mar-2011 Cameroon's new national flag carrier Camair-Co (Cameroon Airlines Corporation) will commence operations on 28 March 2011 with the airline’s inaugural flight to Paris. The overall preparation of the start-up process was managed with the help of Lufthansa Consulting.

The Government of Cameroon commissioned Lufthansa Consulting to advise the country on the setting up of a new airline in 2009. During the challenging project, a team of experienced specialists from the German aviation consulting firm conducted a thorough and extensive market analysis and drew up a detailed business plan for the start-up. Lufthansa Consulting devised a plan to introduce the necessary measures and also provided implementation support in selected areas. Under the terms of the consulting agreement, the experts were also entrusted with the task of recruiting candidates for the key management functions in the new company. Furthermore, the consultants developed a comprehensive product and strategy concept and as a result of this, performed commercial training measures for the carrier's cabin crew members.

Camair-Co plans to serve both domestic and international destinations under the airline code QC. From Douala there will be scheduled flights to Maroua and Garoua in Cameroon. The international flight program will include Paris - via the country's capital city Yaoundé - and N'Djamena in Chad. The carrier will start operations with a Boeing 767-300ER, which has a seat capacity of 210, and a Boeing 737-700 with 128 seats. Camair-Co is committed to offering passengers a high level of quality and technical reliability. To achieve these standards, the airline has enlisted Lufthansa Technik to provide line maintenance and component services for their aircraft.

The Cameroonian airline company was established by presidential decree in 2006. Implemented in partnership with Lufthansa Consulting, it operates under the technical supervision of the Cameroon Ministry of Transport and the financial supervision of the Ministry of Finance. Camair-Co currently has 330 members of staff and is scheduled to employ up to 450 in the future
