09-May-2011 Amadeus, a leading transaction processor and provider of advanced technology solutions for the global travel and tourism industry, today announced that it has agreed to dissolve a contract under which United Airlines previously planned to migrate onto the Amadeus Altéa Suite in 2013.

Following United Airlines' decision to merge with Continental Airlines, and as part of its overall integration efforts, the airline has decided to migrate to Continental Airlines' existing IT system and will review its alternatives for a long-term IT solution in due course. Therefore, United will not be continuing with its planned implementation of the Amadeus Altéa Suite. United Airlines will make a one-time payment to Amadeus in consideration of the change in plans. The two companies intend to continue working closely together to pursue opportunities for partnership in the future.

Bob Edwards, Chief Information Officer of United, said:

"Amadeus has proven to be a true partner, being very understanding and cooperative as our business and IT needs have continued to evolve. Following careful consideration, we have determined that a migration to a new IT platform is currently not the best alternative for United and our ongoing integration efforts. I would like to thank Amadeus for its flexibility and responsiveness in addressing our changing needs since we originally entered into the IT services agreement, and for working with us to find an equitable solution that allows both companies to move forward.

We appreciate our multi-year relationship with Amadeus and we will continue to explore the ways that Amadeus and United can form mutually beneficial partnerships."

Dwayne Ingram, Executive Vice President of Amadeus Americas, said:

"I would like to thank the United Airlines team for its commitment to working with us to find an amicable and fair way to move forward. This news allows us to focus our energies on our partnership in the future. We respect and understand United Airlines' new and unanticipated priorities. We believe that the Amadeus Altéa airline technology offers airlines the most powerful and flexible customer management solution available today, borne out by the fact that 109 airlines worldwide have chosen to use Amadeus Altéa to drive their businesses. We will continue to engage closely with United Airlines to explore future opportunities for technology partnership."

Amadeus Altéa Suite is the fully integrated customer management solution for airlines and includes the following modules: Amadeus Altéa Reservation, Amadeus Altéa Inventory, and Amadeus Altéa Departure Control. As of December 31, 2010, Amadeus had 109 airline customers contracted to use the Amadeus Altéa Suite; in 2010 there were 372.3m passengers processed by Amadeus, representing an increase of 56.8% compared with 2009.
