airberlin: Aviation safety authorities lift airspace restrictions
25-May-2011 Based on the data currently available, the aviation safety authorities have decided to reopen Bremen airport to air traffic.
According to information from the authorities, Hamburg Airport will reopen at 12:00 noon. Berlin-Tegel is planned to reopen at 2:00 pm, Sylt at 2:30 pm and Rostock-Laage at 5:00 pm local time.
Based on these circumstances, airberlin plans to resume normal flight operations from Hamburg, Bremen, Rostock-Laage, Sylt and Berlin-Tegel airports as soon as possible. Flights that have already been cancelled will also be resumed where possible. Passengers who have booked a flight from or to Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Rostock-Laage or Sylt today (Wednesday) are therefore advised to check the current status of their flight before the planned departure time.
Following the volcanic eruption on Iceland, the aviation safety authorities temporarily suspended flights from the airports Berlin-Tegel, Bremen, Hamburg, Rostock-Laage and Sylt this morning.
