Chopin Airport: Volcanic ash

Direct News Source

25-May-2011 No disruption to the Polish airspace is expected due to the ash cloud from the Grimsvotn volcano in Iceland. Chopin Airport is operating as normal.

Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) has announced that trace amounts of volcanic ash have only been detected in the north-west part of Poland and all airlines have been duly informed. According to international standards, the reported concentration of volcanic dust poses no threat to air traffic, with no flights being cancelled in Poland's airspace.

PANSA, like its counterparts in other EU countries, follows the guidelines set out by the European Commission in June 2010.
