2011 Paris Air Show Brings $27B in Deals to GE Aviation and Its JV Companies

This week's activities began with an order from Virgin America for 60 LEAP engines for its new Airbus A320 aircraft and culminated with today's AirAsia order for 400 LEAP engines to power its A320neos. The advanced LEAP engine is a product of CFM International, a 50/50 joint company between GE and Snecma (Safran group).

"The tremendous number of LEAP engine orders at the show demonstrate that customers are clearly gravitating to the reliable innovation of the LEAP engine to provide the airline's narrow-body segment with the 99.98% dispatch reliability that it demands and CFM engines can deliver," said David Joyce, president and chief executive officer of GE Aviation.

GE Aviation and its joint venture companies amassed orders for more than 1,400 engines valued at more than $16 billion (USD) list price and nearly $11 billion (USD) in service agreements. Highlights include:

# AirAsia placed the largest single firm aircraft order in aviation history with its order for 200 LEAP-powered Airbus A320neo aircraft. The airline also signed a 20-year RPFH (Rate per Flight Hour) agreement for maintenance with CFM.

# Virgin America launched CFM International's LEAP engine with an engine order for its 30 Airbus A320neo aircraft. The airline also ordered CFM56-5B for its 30 current technology A320s. The engine orders have a combined value of approximately $1.4 billion U.S. at list price.

# International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC) ordered 40 LEAP-powered Airbus A320 aircraft with options for 20 additional aircraft. The firm engine order is valued at more than $950 million list price.

# GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) selected the LEAP engine to power 60 Airbus A320neo aircraft, valued at $1.4 billion list price.

# CFM International received orders for CFM56-7B engines to power 81 Boeing Next-Generation 737 family aircraft, valued at approximately $1.6 billion list price. Orders were from UTair Aviation (40), Malaysia Airlines (10), Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA (15), Air Lease Corporate (14) and MIAT Mongolian Airlines (2).

# LAN Airlines selected GE's CF6-80C2 engines to power its 14 Boeing 767 aircraft with option for four additional aircraft, valued at more than $400 million list price.

# Cathay Pacific Airways signed a 15-year OnPointSM solution maintenance agreement for its GE90-115B engines that power 18 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

# Qatar Airways ordered six GE90-115B-powered Boeing 777-300ERs, valued at more than $350M list price.

# Virgin America expanded its 12-year OnPoint solution maintenance agreement to include its newly ordered 60 CFM56-5B engines for the A320 aircraft. The expanded service agreement is valued at more than $320 million (USD) dollars over its life.

# Virgin America also signed a Rate per Flight Hour (RPFH) agreement with CFM International to support its 60 LEAP engines for its new Airbus A320neo aircraft.

# Embraer announced agreements with several airlines for the purchase E190 aircraft powered by GE's CF34-10E engines. Kenya Airways ordered 10 E190s, Air Lease Corporation ordered five E190s, GECAS ordered two E190s and Air Astana ordered two E190 aircraft. Total value of the engine orders is more than $260M list price.

# China Southern Airlines selected 20 CF34-10E-powered EMBRAER 190 aircraftto add to its fleet.

# The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), its subsidiary, Shanghai Aircraft Manufacture Company, and CFM International signed the Master Contract for the C919 / LEAP Integrated Propulsion System (IPS).

# Air Lease Corporation ordered five GE90-115B-powered Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

# TAM Airlines signed a five-year OnPoint solution maintenance agreement for its CF6-80C2 engine fleet that powers its Boeing 767 aircraft. The airline also signed an OnPoint Fuel & Carbon Solutions agreement.

# Copa Airlines signed a 12-year OnPoint solution maintenance agreement for its 26 CF34-10E-powered EMBRAER E190 aircraft. The agreement is valued at close to $250 million over its life.

# The Commonwealth of Australia selected the U.S. Navy's MH-60R Seahawk helicopter powered by T700-401C engines as its new generation multi-role naval aircraft. Value of the engines and Total Logistics Support package is approximately $100 million.

# Air Austral and the Engine Alliance, a 50/50 joint venture between GE and Pratt & Whitney finalized agreements for the purchase of GP7200 engines and a 10-year Fleet Management Agreement for its two A380 aircraft.

# flydubai signed a 10-year OnPoint solution maintenance agreement for its 109 CFM56-7B engines that power its Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft.

# All Nippon Airways (ANA) signed a 10-year OnPoint solution material agreement for its 19 GE90-115Bâ€"powered Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The deal is valued at close to $500 million over its life.

# Jazeera Airways ordered CFM56-5B engines to power four Airbus A320 aircraft, valued at $80 million list price.

# SAS selected the LEAP engine to power 30 Airbus A320neo aircraft, valued at approximately $710 million list price.

# National Air Services (NAS) selected CFM56-5B engine to power 20 firm Airbus A320 aircraft, valued at $620 million at list price including a service and support agreement.

# CIT Aerospace ordered LEAP engine to power 15 Airbus A320neo aircraft with options for 10 additional aircraft.

# Tibet Airlines Co. Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to purchase three Airbus A319 powered by CFM56-5B engine, valued at $60 million list price.

# Shenzhen Airlines signed an agreement for CFM56-5B to power its 10 Airbus A320 aircraft, valued at $190 million list price. Shenzhen also signed a Rate per Flight Hour (RPFH) agreement with CFM for the engines.

# Republic Airways Holdings selected LEAP engines to power 80 Airbus A320neo aircraft, valued at more than $2.0 billion list price.

# Air Lease Corporation selected CFM56-5B engine to power 20 firm Airbus A320 aircraft, valued at $380 million U.S. list price.

# GECAS purchased eight GE90-115B-powered Boeing 777-300ER and two GEnx-powered Boeing 747-8 aircraft.

# Aeroflot ordered eight GE90-115B-powered Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

# Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport selected GE Aviation's Required Navigation Performance (RNP) program to improve access and maximize operational efficiency for airlines serving the airport, which the first airport-sponsored RNP program implementation in China.

# Also at the Paris Air Show, three products -- CFM International's LEAP engine collaboration, GE's PassportTM Integrated Propulsion System collaboration and ClearCoreTM engine wash system - qualified to become part of GE's ecomagination portfolio.

# GE Aviation launched its GEnx TRUEngineTM program on the GEnx-1B engine and granted TRUEngine designation to Air India's engine fleet that will power its 27 Boeing 787 aircraft.

# ST Aerospace become the first independent maintenance, repair and overhaul company to be declared a TRUEngineTM service provider.

# GE Aviation, in partnership with GE Global Research, announced a new line of silicon carbide (SiC) based power conversion products for air, land and sea-based platforms.

# Sikorsky and GE Aviation celebrated the signing of a teaming agreement in which GE will provide CT7-8 engines for the S-97 RAIDER prototype development program.

# AAI Unmanned Aircraft Systems, an operating unit of Textron Systems, and GE Aviation announced the Shadow Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System (TUAS) completed a flight demonstration using the GE Flight Management System.

# The master contract purchase agreement for Nexcelle's nacelle system to be integrated on GE Aviation's GE Passport 20 jet engine was signed. The GE Passport 20 integrated propulsion system will be used on the new Bombardier Global 7000 and 8000 business jet aircraft
