GE and JVs sign agreements for more than 800 engines at Farnborough 2016

GE Aviation and its JV companies, including CFM International, announced (14-Jul-2016) more than USD25 billion in orders and commitments at the 2016 Farnborough International Airshow, covering 800 GE and CFM engines as well as TrueChoiceTM suite of engine maintenance offerings.Orders/commitments include (all values quoted in US dollars at list price or over the life of the agreement):

  • Asiana Airlines: LEAP-1A engine to power 25 A321neo aircraft. The engine order is USD950 million, including spare engines and a long-term support agreement;
  • Turkish Airlines: Extensions to its TrueChoice Flight Hour and TrueChoice Overhaul agreements for the CF6-80E engines that power its fleet of seven A330 aircraft. Along with MRO services, GE Aviation will also partner with Turkish Airlines on leadership training as part of these agreements, which are valid until 2026;
  • TAP Portugal: Ordered 83 LEAP-1A engines to power its new fleet of Airbus A320neo/A321neo aircraft;
  • Emirates: Extension of TrueChoice Flight Hour agreement with GE for MRO of 54 GE90-115B engines that power its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The extended agreement is valued at more than USD400 million;
  • Standard Chartered Bank: Ordered CFM International CFM56-7B engine to power 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The order is valued at USD224 million;
  • Austrian Airlines: Expanded a TrueChoice Flight Hour agreement to provide MRO services to 10 GE90-90B engines for Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. The agreement is valued at USD70 million;
  • COMAC: Two signing ceremonies for a total of 90 ARJ21 aircraft powered by GE's CF34-10A engines. The CF34-10A engines are valued at more than USD1.5 billion;
  • Lufthansa Technik: Signed new long-term agreements with GE Aviation for MRO services for the GE9X and GEnx-2B engines;
  • StandardAero: Renewed its independent TRUEngine authorized maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) provider agreement for CF34 and CFM56 engines;
  • Volga-Dnepr Group: Signed an MoU with GE Aviation that include a USD1.4 billion expansion of a TrueChoice Flight Hour agreement and the long-term provision of logistics support services to GE using Volga-Dnepr Group's freighters;
  • EgyptAir: Signed a TrueChoice Materials agreement for MRO consulting services to assist in the development of overhaul capabilities for the CFM56-7B engine;
  • AWAS: Selected CFM International CFM56-5B engine to power 10 new A320ceo aircraft. The engine order is valued at USD320 million;
  • TUI Group: Selected the GEnx-1B engine to power an additional 787 aircraft. TUI Travel and GE also expanded a TrueChoice Flight Hour agreement for engine MRO services to include these new GEnx-1B engines;
  • AirAsia: Ordered 200 additional CFM International LEAP-1A engines to power 100 new A321neo aircraft. The engine order is valued at USD2.7 billion. AirAsia also signed a long-term support agreement;
  • China Aircraft Leasing Company: Selected CFM International CFM56-5B engines to power 20 firm and up to five options of new A320ceo aircraft. The firm engine order is valued at USD430 million;
  • Air Europa: Ordered CFM International LEAP-1B engine to power 20 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The engine order is valued at more than USD800 million, including a maintenance agreement;
  • Icelandair: Signed a TrueChoice Transitions agreement with GE Aviation for three overhauls of its CF6-80C2 engines powering its Boeing 767 aircraft, as well as an engine lease;
  • Thomas Cook Group Airlines: Signed a five-year TrueChoice Transitions agreement with GE Aviation for the time and material to repair and overhaul its fleet of CF6-80C2 engines that power its eight Boeing 767 aircraft;
  • LATAM: Finalized a long-term service agreement with CFM International to support the operation and maintenance of 35 of the group's CFM56-5B engines;
  • Safran Aircraft Engines: Signed a three-year material repair agreement with Unison Industries in support of the maintenance of CFM56 engines;
  • Emirates: Signed a 10-year after market services agreement with Unison Industries in support of the carrier's GE90 and GP7200 engine fleets. The agreement extends through 2025 and covers external Unison new parts and component repairs for GE Aviation and Engine Alliance engine families in the Emirates fleet. [more - original PR]
