GE Aviation and Pratt & Whitney celebrate 20 years of Engine Alliance

GE Aviation and Pratt & Whitney celebrated (07-Sep-2016) 20 years of the formation of Engine Alliance. The JV was originally launched to develop an engine for the proposed Boeing 747-500X/600X aircraft. The Engine Alliance GP7200 eventually found its home as on the A380. Today the GP7200 engine powers more than 115 A380s, around 60% of the fleet in service. Revenue-sharing partners in Engine Alliance include MTU Aero Engines, Safran Aero Boosters and Safran Aircraft Engines. [more - original PR]
