Qantas Airways Group pax numbers up 11% at 4.0m with 78% load factor in Feb-2016

Qantas Airways Group passenger numbers up 11% - traffic highlights for Feb-2016:

• Passenger numbers: 4.0 million, +10.5% year-on-year;
• • Qantas Domestic*: 1.7 million, +6.2%;

  • Jetstar Domestic: 974,000, +7.5%;
  • Jetstar International: 498,000, +27.4%;
  • Jetstar Asia: 348,000, +19.8%;
• Passenger load factor: 77.9%, -0.3 ppt;

Qantas Group: "Group Domestic Revenue per Available Seat Kilometre (RASK) was lower compared to the prior corresponding period, with increased traffic during the Cricket World Cup in February and March 2015 providing a one-off boost to unit revenue. Revenue from resources routes was lower than in the prior corresponding period, in line with previous guidance. Qantas International capacity rose by 10.3 per cent, reflecting services added to San Francisco, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore earlier in the financial year. Qantas International capacity growth is from increased utilization of existing Group aircraft. Jetstar International capacity increased by 16.8 per cent in the month predominately driven by the higher seat count of the B787 Dreamliner aircraft compared to the A330 aircraft they have replaced."
