TSA expects some 740m passengers to pass through its checkpoints in 2016

Transportation Security Administration administrator Peter Neffenger stated (25-May-2016) at the House Homeland Security Committee hearing on 25-May-2016, stated checkpoints nationwide in 2016 "are expected to screen some 740 million people. By comparison to 2013, the TSA screen 643 million, representing an increase of approximately 100 million people in just four years, while our full-time workforce has reduced by more than 12%. That and the renewed focus on security are the significant contributors to the situation we face today". Mr Neffenger said the number of TSA screeners has declined to 44,942 in 2016 from 47,147 in 2013. [more - original PR Video] [more - original PR]
