Airline Group

About

The Jetstar Group is a multi-national airline group consisting of a network of low cost airlines including Jetstar Airways, Jetstar Asia Airways and Jetstar Japan.

As part of the Qantas ‘two-brand’ strategy, the Jetstar Group focuses primarily on the leisure market and all members share common ‘Jetstar’ branding. Member airlines also enjoy significant equity links, although Jetstar Airways is the only wholly owned subsidiary of the Qantas Group. Qantas holds minority stakes in Jetstar Asia Airways (49%) and Jetstar Japan (33%).

Member airlines include:

  • Jetstar Airways (since May-2004)
  • Jetstar Asia Airways (Dec-2004)
  • Jetstar Japan (since Jul-2012)

Jetstar Hong Kong was a failed venture between Qantas, Shun Tak and China Eastern Airlines. In 2015, Qantas wrote off its USD14.5 million investment in Jetstar Hong Kong and confirmed it would make no further investments in the proposed carrier.
