About

ASL Airlines Spain (formerly known as Pan Air Lineas Aereas) was a Spanish cargo based at Madrid Barajas Airport. The carrier was a subsidiary of Irish aviation services company, ASL Aviation Group. ASL Airlines Spain was part of TNT Express NV, the Dutch global cargo, mail and logistics corporation. In Feb-2016, ASL Aviation Group reached an agreement to acquire the airline operations of TNT Express, comprising TNT Airways and Pan Air Lineas Aereas. ASL also entered a multi-year service agreement to operate services for the intended FedEx-TNT combination. FedEx completed the acquisition on 26-May-2016, allowing ASL to acquire TNT Express.

ASL Aviation Holdings confirmed plans to introduce Boeing 737-400F aircraft in the Spain-Europe market to meet increasing capacity requirements. Simultaneously, ASL Airlines Spain's BAe 146QT aircraft would be withdrawn from service and the airline will cease operations on the retirement of the last aircraft. ASL Aviation stated the shut down of ASL Airlines Spain is "operationally and market driven" and conforms with ASL's strategy to reduce duplication, optimise assets and create 'centres of excellence' across its European network. WDL acquired three BAe 146-300 (QT) from ASL Airlines Spain for a combination of charters and long term wet lease in Oct-2018.
