Lynx Aviation was formed by Frontier Airlines, Inc in 2006 to provide feeder services for Frontier Airlines from regional points within a 650-mile radius of Denver. Originally set to begin service in May 2007, it launched in September using Horizon, ExpressJet and Republic to provide service until it gained its type certificate in Dec-2007 and begun operating under its own operating certificate.
In Jan-2011, Republic Airways Holdings, Inc announced that it had reversed an earlier decision to close Lynx Aviation, and stated it would continue Lynx services with Q400s indefinitely.

Wyoming group interested in Lynx Aviation
Perhaps taking a cue from Republic Airways Holdings' first quarter conference call, during which management said it wants to sell Lynx Aviation either in part or in whole, a group of former airline executives announced they were interested in buying the subsidiary of Frontier Airlines, which was set to shut down in autumn.
Q400s out of Frontier, Embraers in
News of the Republic/Frontier/Midwest integration is eked out like a near-springtime trickle from a great glacier. You know there is more to come, but have to wait for warmer weather. The weather was balmy yesterday, as Republic Airways Holdings CEO Bryan Bedford addressed the Raymond James conference.
Frontier Airlines emerges from bankruptcy under Republic Airways’ wing. Can the good times last?
Frontier emerged from bankruptcy protection on 01-Oct-2009 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings Inc, following the approval of the carrier’s reorganisation plan. At the time of the plan's approval, Frontier President and CEO, Sean Menke, stated, “this is an extremely proud day for everyone in our Company. Many people doubted that we would even survive, let alone accomplish a successful reorganisation, provide a recovery for our creditors and emerge a stronger competitor and company”.
Southwest bids USD170 million for a new Frontier; the end of the beginning?
Southwest Airlines announced in a teleconference call on 10-Aug-2009 that, as expected, it had submitted a binding bid for the bankrupt Frontier. But for an anticipated announcement, the call provided plenty of surprises. The first was that the bid amounted to just over USD170 million, roughly 50% higher than the USD113.6 million announced on 30-Jul-2009.
Is the worst now behind Frontier Airlines?
Frontier Airlines may finally be turning the corner, even though its latest quarterly financial report shows more streams of red ink.
Frontier Airlines estimates USD58 million 2Q08 loss
Frontier Airlines, citing a 62% increase in average fuel costs, stated it expects to report a USD57.7 million net loss during the three months ended 30-Jun-08 (2Q08). The loss would be a significant increase from the USD3.5 million loss reported in 2Q07.
