Paramount reports strong traffic, but fleet leasing issues surface
The Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) reports domestic traffic for Oct-2009 reached 3.5 million passengers for the month, a year-on-year increase of 26.7%. Paramount Airways accounted for only a tiny fraction of the total, carrying 61,000 passengers – achieving a solid growth rate of 15.1% year-on-year.
Paramount Airways - Fleet expansion catching up to network expansion
Chennai-based Paramount Airways, which has been on a trail of rapid route network expansion, is showing no sign of slowing down with its expansion plans. The business focused carrier signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus at the Paris Air show in Jun-2009 for ten A321s with options for an additional ten. The MoU is worth more than USD900 million, to be funded by the European Central bank, and delivery of the first aircraft is scheduled for 4Q2009.
Paramount Airways expedites domestic expansion, ahead of international operations
Paramount Airways is rapidly expanding its domestic route network, with its sights set firmly on the North and East of India as opportunities in 1Q2009. The carrier expedited plans to develop Kolkata as its hub connection to the region, launching daily Chennai-Guwahati and Chennai-Agartala services via Kolkata as well as daily Chennai-Kolkata service on 27-Apr-2009. Frequency on the direct Chennai-Kolkata sector was increased to twice daily on 14-May-2009 due to high demand.
Paramount Airways: rapid expansion of domestic network to commence in mid-2009
Paramount Airways is branching out beyond its home territory in Southern India, seizing opportunities in the North and East of the country. The carrier plans to launch up to three times daily Chennai-Kolkata service in Jun-2009. Soon after, Kolkata will be connected with the Southern cities of Bangalore, Coimbatore, Madurai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruchirapalli and Visakhapatnam.

Paramount Airways, a Chennai-based all-Business class airline, has outlined some ambitious expansion plans for 2009, after last year recording just a 1.1% increase in passenger numbers to 630,000, according to Ministry of Civil Aviation data.
