A wholly owned subsidiary of Portuguese flag carrier TAP Air Portugal, Portugália is a regional airline with its base at Lisbon Portela Airport and a secondary base at Porto Airport. The airline operates chartered service on behalf of its parent, mainly to domestic destinations and nearby international destinations. It previously served as a regional subsidiary, however, TAP Portugal replaced Portugália with TAP Express to harmonise the brand name. The new venture is part of a network and fleet restructure by TAP Portugal to deliver a consistent brand and product. TAP Express commenced in Mar-2016, and while all aircraft appear in Portugália's livery, all flights are operated using TAP Portugal flight numbers and are booked through TAP's website.
