GMR Group is a major Indian infrastructure organisation, with interests in airports, energy, highways and urban infrastructure. Employing the Public Private Partnership model, the Group has successfully implemented several infrastructure projects in India.
GMR Infrastructure Limited is the infrastructure holding company formed to fund the capital requirements of various infrastructure projects in the Group’s energy, highways and airport business. It undertakes the development of the infrastructure projects through its various subsidiaries.
With partners Fraport, MAHB, and local infrastructure firm IDFC, GMR Infrastructure owns 74% of Delhi International Airport Ltd, the company upgrading Delhi Airport. It also owns 63% of the company that upgraded Hyderabad Airport as a partner in the GMR-HIAL joint venture company.
GMR Infrastructure won the contract to develop Sabiha Gökcen International Airport in Istanbul in a joint venture with Turkey’s Limak and MAHB (GMR owns a 40% share in this consortium), as well as the 25-year contract to construct, operate, modernise and expand Male International Airport in the Maldives through the GMR-MAHB consortium.
