Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield Airport serves the metropolitan region of South Yorkshire in England. Located 7 miles (11 km) south east of Doncaster, the airport was constructed on the site of the former RAF Finningley. The airport is owned and operated by Peel Airport Holdings, and handles just under 1 million passengers per year. Thomson Airways is the largest operator at the airport, followed by easyJet and Wizz Air. Much of the airport's traffic is seasonal, with charter services operating in the summer months to destinations mainly in southern Europe.

Britain’s airports battle for passengers, airlines ... and survival

There was a time when any self respecting city craved its own airport. In 2011, such is the pressure from powerful environmental lobbies over emissions, noise, turbulence and wake vortex, protection of bird habitats etc, in addition to consistent economic pressures, that some cities have lost, or could lose, their airport. And as they are mainly in the private sector in the UK, some politically left-leaning councils don’t seem too concerned.

easyJet CEO, Andrew Harrison easyJet keeps rolling out the expansion plans, for now

On 09-Dec-2009, Andy Harrison, CEO of easyJet handed in his resignation, effective Jun-2010. He is only the second CEO the airline has had. The airline was quick to emphasise that his departure was specifically not connected with this year’s board challenges to his leadership strategy.
