Murcia-San Javier Airport is an international airport serving the city of Murcia in Spain. The airport has recorded strong growth over the past decade, with the arrival of LCCs easyJet and Ryanair, which use Murcia to carry passengers to nearby popular holiday destinations including regions on the Costa Blanca, in particular resort towns such as Torrevieja. Ryanair has been cancelling or suspending services at a wide range of airports across Europe, including in countries where it is growing. Is there any discernible strategy here or is it no more than coincidence, as a result of too many disagreements with airports? What future prospects are there for smaller airports when Ryanair decides to quit?

Ryanair plans new bases at Leeds Bradford and Malta

Ryanair recently announced plans to expand its bases, adding another in the UK and one in Malta. The move supports the carrier’s recent announcements of capacity cut backs at Manchester, London Stansted and Dublin International Airports.
