Vinci positions for next phase of Aeroports de Paris privatisation

3-Jan-08 11:46 AM

Another major construction firm has bought into a leading European airport operator. Vinci has purchased a 3.3% stake in Aeroports de Paris (ADP), as it positions for a bigger future slice of the Paris airports operator, whose shares soared 13% on the news.

ADP was partially privatised in 2006, although the French Government retains a 68.4% stake in the company. Vinci is confident this level could be reduced, but clarified it does not intend to raise its shareholding above its current level, “unless there is a change in the government's shareholding in the future”.

expand their presence in the French regional airport sector by signing a strategic

partnership last week to make a joint offer to local authorities that wish to

delegate the management of their airport. According to Vinci, the decentralisation

of French airports to local authorities may result in the launch of tender procedures

aimed at selecting private partners or agents to manage them.
