About

Established in 1952, Davis–Monthan Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base located within the city limits approximately 8km south-southeast of downtown Tucson, Arizona. The area has a large population of military and retired personnel. Previously known as Davis-Monthan Landing Field, it was named after two local early aviators, who died in separate flight accidents; Samuel H. Davis and Lt Oscar Monthan.
