Bermuda, an isolated group of small islands in the west Atlantic Ocean is an overseas territory of the United Kingdom. L.F. Wade International Airport located on St. David Island is the only airport in Bermuda and provides service to fourteen destinations in Europe, Canada and the U.S. served by Air Canada, American Airlines, British Airways, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, JetBlue and US Airways.

The functions of the Bermuda’s Department of Civil Aviation (BDCA) include all matters related to the licensing, certification and regulation of aircraft, air navigation services, aviation security and safety regulation.

British Airways’ CEO, Willie Walsh, has vowed to continue expanding the carrier's US services and is considering services from London City Airport (LCY) to Boston, Chicago and Washington as trans-Atlantic traffic has remained “robust” despite the global financial downturn. The carrier already operates to New York JFK from London City, using A318 aircraft, one of the largest types able to use the extended ‘STOLport.’
