Cape Verde
The Republic of Cape Verde is a small island group located off West Africa. Praia international Airport is the main gateway located on the island of Santiago in the capital of Praia. Cape Verde has close to a dozen airports with the main airports being Praia international Airport, Amílcar Cabral International Airport and São Pedro Airport. The national carrier TACV Cabo Verde Airlines dominates Cape Verde’s aviation.
Cape Verde has been rated category one by the FAA (Federal Aviation Authority) by meeting ICAO standards, which makes it one of the only countries in Africa to meet this standard for safety and security.

Ryanair goes medium haul. Is a Middle East hub the goal as it pushes the limits?
The announcement last week from Ryanair that it intends to include Larnaca, Cyprus in its list of destinations raises some interesting questions. Not least amongst them is, just how far can LCCs travel using the business model that is in place now? So far Ryanair has shied away from long haul (transatlantic) operations, which its management knows would require a significant adjustment to the short/mid haul model, though it still insists it will do it one day. It seems Ryanair (or Michael O’Leary) has spoken to airport management in the U.S., for example Niagara Falls airport, about hosting the first route. Now it appears though that Ryanair may be looking at tapping into the Middle East market, by using Larnaca as a base.
Africa Aviation Outlook: Cooperation, liberalisation and protectionism
As African governments sought a path to successful locally-based airline operations, some attempted to gain the benefits of scale and coverage by forming joint airlines. With a good deal of support from European governments and flag carriers, two early examples of airlines jointly representing the interests of neighbouring countries shared resources, costs and – hopefully - the profits.
