An operating unit of General Electric, the world’s largest corporation, GE Aviation is a major producer of jet and turboprop engines and components for both commercial and military aircraft. It also produces integrated digital, electric power and mechanical systems for aircraft. The company has an extensive global service network to support its products, with operations in more than 50 locations worldwide.
Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, the company is headed by President & CEO, David L Joyce. The company traces its history back to the production of components for the famous Liberty engine, which first ran in 1917. Through its own production and the joint ventures it has entered, particularly CFM International, the company is the world’s leading
supplier of large commercial aircraft engines. In 2007, the company acquired Smiths Aerospace, for USD4.8 billion, significantly broadening its offerings for aviation customers.
