Lufthansa Group announce Sep-2009 traffic highlights

Passenger traffic at the Lufthansa Group was defined by persistently weak demand in September. The traffic data was also affected by the consolidation of both British Midland (bmi) and, for the first time, of Austrian Airlines (AUA). This meant that capacity rose by 14.5 per cent, which was matched by a similar increase in sales (+14.6%). Without the effects of consolidation, sales fell by 3.1 per cent. As capacity management had cut capacity by 4.0 per cent, however, the load factor went up by 0.7 percentage points to 80.9 per cent.
