Transaero Airlines passenger turnover increases by 50% in H1 2010

23-Jul-2010 Transaero Airlines is pleased to announce its H1 2010 operational results for the period ending 30 June 2010.

During this period the Company has achieved significant growth across all areas, demonstrating the continued successful execution of its strategy and the sustainable development of its business.

Operating Highlights for January - June 2010:

  • Passenger turnover equaled 11.38 billion revenue passenger-kilometres (RPK), an increase of 50.1% compared to the same period in 2009
  • Passenger volume increased to 2.78 million passengers, 42.4% more than in January - June 2009
  • 15,665 tons of cargo delivered, up by 45.4% than in January - June 2009
  • Revenue ton-kilometres (RTK) reached 1.11 billion, 49.8% more than for the same period of 2009

In H1 2010 Transaero passenger traffic increased both on domestic (+28.5%) and international routes (+46.1%). Since the beginning of 2010 the airline has launched new regular flights from Moscow to Beijing, Qostanay, Yakutsk, and from St Petersburg to Vladivostok, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Khabarovsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Athens and Thessaloniki.

Commenting on today's H12010 operating results, Olga Pleshakova, General Director of Transaero Airlines, said: "In the first six months of 2010 we achieved the best results in our 19 year history, demonstrating the success of our strategy and implementation of our development plans by our highly professional team. We are proud to say that in 2010 Transaero has increased the traffic to the Russian Far East with the opening of new flights from St Petersburg and Moscow. We have also increased capacity, speed and comfort on our Far Eastern routes with introduction of Boeing 777 aircraft. We are particularly pleased with the success of our launch of Transaero flights from Moscow to Beijing''.
